Consumer App: Device Pairing Process

Modified on Fri, 24 Apr at 8:47 AM

This guide walks you through pairing your Aura Air device with the mobile app, from initial configuration to successful connection.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following ready:

  • Aura Air app installed and you are logged in.
  • Aura Air device unpacked and plugged into a power outlet.
  • WiFi network meeting Aura Air requirements — see the article "Aura Air Device WiFi Requirements & Troubleshooting" for details.
  • Your License Key, found in your welcome email or on the device box.

Step-by-Step Pairing Process

Step 1 — Start Device Setup

From the Home screen, tap the + icon in the upper-right corner. The New Device screen will appear.

Step 2 — Device Configuration

On the New Device screen, fill in the following:

Field

What to Do

DEVICE NAME

Type a descriptive name for your device (e.g., Living Room Air, Office, Bedroom).

SELECT ROOM

Tap the Choose Room dropdown and select the room where your device is placed. Available options: Living Room, Bedroom, Kitchen, Office, or Custom.

Tap OK to confirm your room selection, then tap NEXT to proceed.

Choose a name that helps you identify the device's location at a glance — especially useful if you have multiple Aura Air devices.

Step 3 — License Key Validation

The Activate Device screen will appear. Enter your License Key in the input field exactly as it appears in your welcome email or on the device box.

Option

What to Do

I have my License Key

Type or paste the key into the input field, then tap NEXT.

I don't have a License Key

Scroll down to the "DON'T HAVE A LICENSE KEY?" section. Enter your email address in the Recovery Email field and tap Resend by Email. Your key will arrive in your inbox within a few minutes.

The license key is case-sensitive. Enter it exactly as shown, including uppercase and lowercase letters.

Your License Key can also be found on the device box or packaging insert.

Step 4 — Aura Air Device Preparation

Before the app can connect, you need to put your physical device into pairing mode:

  1. Locate the single button on your Aura Air device.
  2. Press and hold the button for 4 seconds.
  3. Wait for the front LED to blink green slowly — this means the device is in Listening Mode and ready to connect.

If the LED does not turn green, make sure the device is fully plugged in and try holding the button again for a full 4 seconds.

Step 5 — WiFi Connection Process

Phase 1 — Connect your phone to the device's temporary network:

  1. Tap Enter WiFi Settings in the app.
  2. Your phone's WiFi settings will open automatically.
  3. In the network list, find and select Aura-XXXXXX (the Xs are your device's unique ID).
  4. Once connected, return to the Aura Air app.

Phase 2 — Connect the device to your home network:

  1. On the Connect to WiFi screen, select your home WiFi network from the list.
  2. Enter your WiFi password.
  3. If your network does not appear, tap Refresh WiFi List.
  4. Tap Next to connect.

Aura Air only supports 2.4 GHz WiFi networks.

If your router broadcasts both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, make sure you select the 2.4 GHz network.

Step 6 — Device Setup Completion

The Setting up your device screen will appear. This process typically takes 1–3 minutes.

  • Keep the app open throughout — do not close it or let your screen lock.
  • Do not unplug the device during setup.

When setup is complete, the Finish button will appear. Tap it — your device is now paired and will appear in your device list. You can begin monitoring your air quality immediately.

Basic Troubleshooting

If the pairing process is unsuccessful:

  • Check your WiFi network — see the article "Aura Air Device WiFi Requirements & Troubleshooting" to verify your network meets all requirements.
  • For persistent pairing failures after checking WiFi, see the article "Consumer App: Advanced Troubleshooting" for a full device reset process.
