Can I Unplug My Aura Air When I'm Not Using It?

Short answer

You can, but you probably shouldn't.

Three good reasons to keep it running

  1. Your electric bill won't notice. The Aura Air uses about as much power as a regular light bulb — somewhere between 6 to 48 watts depending on what it's doing. Even running 24/7, that's maybe a few dollars a month.
  2. Turning it back on is a hassle. Every time you unplug it, you're basically starting over. The device needs 1–2 days to re-learn your air quality before it can give you reliable readings or work at full capacity.
  3. It's meant to stay busy. The whole point is continuous air cleaning. Turn it off and you're back to breathing whatever was floating around before — dust, allergens, odors, you name it.

Bottom line

Unless you're leaving town for weeks or there's a storm coming, just let it do its thing.

It's designed to be a "set it and forget it" kind of device.

⚠ If you do unplug it for an extended period, give it 1–2 full days after restart before relying on its AQI readings.
