Aura Air devices require specific WiFi network conditions to connect and operate properly. This guide covers network requirements, troubleshooting steps, and technical specifications for IT administrators.


Quick WiFi Requirements 

Your Aura Air device needs:

  • 2.4 GHz WiFi network (5 GHz is not supported)
  • No firewall blocking outbound connections on TCP Port 5683
  • Device within WiFi range of your router
  • WPA/WPA2 security (minimum 8-character password recommended)

Common Problems & Solutions

Device Won't Connect If your Aura Air device cannot connect to WiFi, check these issues:

  1. Distance: Router may be too far from the device
  2. Wrong Frequency: Network must be 2.4 GHz (not 5 GHz)
  3. Firewall Blocking: Corporate firewalls may block required connections
  4. Network Type: Some enterprise networks aren't supported


Quick Test Method Mobile Hotspot Test: Connect your device to your phone's mobile hotspot to verify the device works. If it connects successfully, the issue is with your local network configuration.

Unsupported Network Types

Aura Air devices connect outbound to TCP Port 5683 using CoAP protocol.

Required Actions:

  • Allow outbound connections on TCP Port 5683
  • Whitelist Aura Air's server IP addresses (see list below)
  • Alternative: Allow access by device MAC address
